10.24.09 Albert Pujols of the St. Louis Cardinals

As most of you know, I am big Cardinals fan. I always have been and Albert Pujols has always been one of my favorite players. In fact, how can you not love Pujols? (Mommy & Mr. T have a dog name Albert after this fantastic player. ) Recently I discovered that Pujols has a daughter with Down Syndrome and Pujols is a major advocate for DS awareness. In fact, he helped St. Luke's Hospital open the Albert Pujols Wellness Center for Adults With Down Syndrome. Please note that it is Adults with DS and not Down Syndrome Adults. Is there a difference? Yes, there is. They are adults (or in Ellie's case a baby) first who just so happen to have DS. The DS does not define who they are. Okay, speech over.

Remember tomorrow is the Buddy Walk in Georgetown, TX. Each city has theirs on a different day. To read about Pujols contribution to the Buddy Walk St. Louis, click below.
